Overview
The Caves Nassau is a Bahamas site that showcases the diverse types of beauty the archipelago has to offer. While most travelers make their way to the island nation for beaches and blue water, the Caves in Nassau Bahamas let you enjoy a completely different experience.
The island’s oldest attraction is the Caves Nassau. Their history dates back millions of years, to an era when the site was completely submerged under the ocean. Over time, hollows formed as waves battered against the sedimentary rock’s more vulnerable sections. These are Nassau Caves as they are today.
Throughout history, humans have employed them for a variety of purposes. The original occupants of the islands, the Lucayan people, used them for a variety of purposes, one of which was to store food safely during hurricanes. Many people still hold the belief that, centuries later, pirates utilized the Caves to conceal their own bodies and valuables from other pirates or British warships that happened to pass through.
